We had the amazing opportunity to renovate the kitchen in this 19th century Wexford farm house! We started by replacing the rotting sub-floor, and the floor joists as well. After completing the sub-floor, we refinished the kitchen cabinets with a bit of chalk paint and a wax finish, this gave the home owner the modern look the were hoping for (and saved them a ton of money too!). Next, we worked to design a custom kitchen island, complete with outlets, storage space and a nook to hide the trash can. We wrapped the whole thing with pallet wood, again with a wax finish, to give it a rustic look. To tie the whole room together, we used the pallet wood to create a custom back-splash and wrapped the pantry with pallet wood as well. We installed new flooring, and added new appliances and, to top everything off, a new fixture over the island, which competed the modern rustic look.
